why thankyew. its not often that the little person wins so im a bit happy about it. sort of reminded me of aohell before they gave up. the price keeps going down and they dont let you cancel instead offering a lower price and a better deal.
so i got a letter in the mail the other day telling me that my waiting them out was coming to a big end as of june 12th. the letter said that all of my channels were going to disappear on that day unless i called them and upgraded to their hd product. the last time i called them they quoted me 179. plus tax per month to keep the level of service the same as i have now. since my cable and internet service is a gift it seemed presumptous to double that gift on someone elses dime so this war began.
so today i called them to try again. may i share that i was hung up on 7 times and that this effort ate up 3 hours of my time today but in the end reason prevailed. i spoke with several people in mexico and they were fine but in transferring me over to the "sales dept" managed to hang up on me so the final time i asked to speak to a supervisor rather than go thru the whole song and dance again. the nice woman probed to see why i wanted a supervisor and decided to take the initiative to solve the problem which was impressive. after going thru the whole thing again tho she called her sales people and they said that it was going to be 179 a month because i am already a customer. the nationally advertised price is 29.99 a month and 19.99 a month for internet service so i said ok cancel it then i dont want your service anymore. this was after 2 hours and 40 min on the phone and she said hold on and the next thing i know i am talking to someone in their sales dept and in 20 min i have what i called for, exactly as i wanted it, AND with a 2 year agreement. so for the next 2 years they will honor the 29.99 tv package with dvr, hbo and showtime, and broadband for an additional 19.99 a month which cuts the bill in half rather than doubling it. AND the last time i called they said id have to get boxes for each room with a tv in it and those boxes would cost 44. 35 a month in addition to the 179 BUT thanks to a friend who works for the cable co i asked them to give me DTA's instead of boxes and those were free. so tho majorly frustrating the cable war has a good ending. now that ive agreed to this price for 2 years tho im thinking it will be my luck that the price of cable and broadband will drop dramatically in the next year and ill be paying more than i have to but for now i am going to just enjoy the sweet victory over the cable monsters.
